A large majority of my artwork is created due to my own deep affection for the environment, my concerns over the harm plastic impacts upon land and in the oceans, and from the enormous volumes of plastic we manufacture and dispose of daily.
The relevance of the relationship between the city, waste and the ocean. It was obvious, if cities were better stewards of their rubbish, there would be no relevance, however reality tells us that rubbish is part of the trail that we here in cities initiate and partake.
The series will also compliment my theme for Land Art as it concerns the progression of where the vast majority of plastic from our cities ends up and its effects in the ocean.
Subsequently, deciding that the artwork should have relevance to the site and the algae should also come specifically from Monterey area
